We are looking to finish our basement. We have eight foot ceilings and I want to us a 5" gimbal recessed light stile on our ceiling. What is the maximum distance between the lights and the light and the wall? Does a 6" gimbal have a wider light radios then a 5" gimbal and bulb? Since the gimbal beam of light can move around do you space it a little differently then stationary recessed lights? Thank you for all your info!

Its really about the lumens, baffle and light temp which will determine this. Most 5" LED retro fits are 9.5 watts and up to 3500 K, equivalent to 60Watt bulb.

A gimble head allows you to point the light, the baffle will spread it out. Read on lighting placement and design.
