42" Barrel Fan motor quit should replace or buy new fan?

42" barrel fan i use in my greenhouse has quit. Motor seems to be bad. anyone ever replaced motor? or should I buy a new barrel fan?

You would think the motor would be the cheaper way to go.

Find the name plate on the motor....get the specs such as HP, voltage, shaft dia., mounting bracket, etc.

There are many sites that sell motors....google is your friend. If you don't want to spend that kind of money call local salvage yards or better yet HVAC shops for a used motor that might work.

ps. shaft dia. is important along with proper HP to match requirements. Most motors can be adjusted 120/240 volts but some can not. Also rotation is adjustable but you have to be able to read wiring diagram inside the name plate.
