Everything is physically wired like this and wound be difficult to change.
(3way)-(4way)-(fixture+power)-(4way)-(3way)

I can get lights to work, but if any switch is used to turn it off, the same switch must be used to turn it on, but one of the 3ways must be in a certain position. I have something wrong, but I double checked according to the schematic above. I get 64 volts in certain conditions across one of the 3ways.

1. Is it possible to wire 4 switches with power at the light fixture?
2. Is there a more detailed schematic available?

Your problem is the wrong wire is on the common screw of one of the three ways. In the drawing the commons are the single white on the left and the single black on the right.
The drawing you have will work fine. There is no more detail to add. There a many different configurations that this could be wired however. Power could go to any switch or the light. Light could be at any switch or between any switch.

The drawing is correct, something got wired wrong along the way, causing one of the 3way common terminals to be incorrect.

Caution: The terminals of 3 way and 4 way switches cannot be identified by such terms as "center right" or "top left". Usually the common terminal of a 3 way switch and the terminals of a 4 way switch (aka intermediate switch) for one cable's travelers are stained a darker color.
