Hi everyone, :glasses:

My kitchen has 4 recessed lights that are operated by 2 switches:
1) The first is a 3-way Leviton switch (calling it switch 1).
2) The second is a 3-way Leviton dimmer switch (push/rotary/on/off knob dimmer).

The lights started flickering when turned on and hissing sound was coming out of the dimmer so I quickly replaced it with another Leviton 3-way rotary/on/off knob dimmer. The old dimmer had 4 wires in a row (colored BBRG), the new dimmer has 2 on top and 2 on bottom (BRRG - Traveler red has label).

This is not operating as expected. Steps to recreate the issues are below:

When Switch 1 down, lights are off
Push dim, lights turn on
Switch 1 up, lights turn off
Push dim, lights turn on
Switch 1 down, lights turn off
Push dim, lights turns on
Switch 1 up, lights turn off
Issue: Push dim, lights stay off
Issue : Switch 1 down, lights stay off
Push dim, lights turn on

I have the same 3-way set up in my living room with the ceiling fan dimmable lights, but they work as expected with no issues.

I would appreciate some professional guidance on this situation that’s been baffling me. I swapped wires and replaced switches with more new ones to no avail.

Many thanks for your time in advance.

how is this

Different from this.

Are you sure you pushed it enough to make it switch?
It’s a new switch, clicks easy. I tried several times. The step before that would be that the dimmer was pushed in and the lights came on. It seems if the lights are off and switch 1 is down then switch 1 doesn’t work and can’t turn them on unless you do so with the dimmer, then switch 1 works.
