I had 2 quotes from installers for a Waterfurnace 7 series geothermal unit. One says that my 8" x 22" duct work can handle the 1600 cfm required (according to the manufacturer). my question is can my duct work handle 1600cfm?

What are you using now? What size furnace, how large is your home? If the current system is the same size as what you are replacing it with....why would you think it would be a problem.

is the current unit in the middle of the basement so that the 8X22 is running from 2 sides of it. or is the current unit at one end of the house and you have a single 8X22 trunk line. 8X22 is too small for 4 tons. It will make for a loud system.
