I purchased a number of used 3 lamp commercial light fixtures for my shop not knowing the ballast are 277v only. In researching the used of 277v ballast fixtures, there is a definite performance upside. So my questions is this.

Would it be best to purchase a 120v to 277v step-up transformer or convert all of the ballast to 120/277v? I have a total of six 3-lamp fixtures that will run on once circuit.

Would appreciate your thoughts and any challenges to consider.

Luminaries in residential can be maximum 120 VAC by NEC code. Convert to LED.

Since 277v fixtures cannot be used in domestic premises,
Then if you really want to keep the fixtures ?
you need toreplace the 277v ballasts
with 120v ballasts.
Or as suggested,
gut them, and convert to LED tubes.
