Hi All
I have just bought a 240V radial arm saw that has a 3 Prong plug on it,
I want to run it on 240V and not convert it down to 120V
I already have a 240V receptacle on the wall but it is a 4 prong round plug (it was for a wood planer)
I have bought a 3 prong ( ground pin and 2 horizontal pins) socket to swap with the 4 pin (existing socket)
How does one connect the 4 wires (red, black, white and green) from the main supply to the 3 pins in the socket ( two unmarked and a ground pin)
thank you in advance
Alec

provided the amp rating of the new receptacle is proper for the breaker you would conenct the red and black to the X and Y terminals. The white is capped and not used. Ther green or bare wire goes to the ground pin.
