I just removed a spa that was powered by a dedicated 50A 220v circuit on a GFCI breaker. I want to convert the curcuit to 2 110v 20A circuits to power an outdoor ceiling fan and lights and a a refrigerator and beer keg cooler. Can I do this without running a new circuit?
Hot tubs are almost always 4 wire. Two hots, a neutral, and a ground. If this is the case, you can install a sub-panel and get both 120 and 240 from it.
If there is a small panel already near where the hot tub was, you can very likely remove the 50 amp 2 pole GFI breaker and install two single pole 120 volt breakers.
As stated above, if there's only 3 wires, you can re-connect one of them and get 120.
