I am a wood worker and usually I source my raw materials from trees cut down by developers. Its no secret that green wet wood is HEAVY. The 4' - 5' sections I pick up regularly come close to 500 lbs. To help out with this loading I'm considering a bed mounted crane from HF.

I wanted to be sure of the best way to mount the thing that wouldn't destroy the bed of my truck. I assume I'd have to go through one of the points of contact between the bed and frame but still wasn't sure if my bed would be damaged.

You are going to wind up drilling some holes and I would have a separate arm welded up that will drop into and be bolted in the side rail holes on the top of the rails for stability.
