i have oil heat 3 zones.i can`t get one zone to work properly .i tried 3 different thermostats and they just don`t regulate the heat most of the time it is too hot.it is an old 2 wire system.i have tried programable and non programably thermostats nothing seems to work.any ideas?thanks

yeah i kind of figured that out.i`m going to change the zone valve head and hope that solves the problem.also going to check the wiring and make sure no shorts are causing it to stay on,thanks for the help

Does that zone get heat with the stat removed from the wall?

You should see if the zone valve head is getting power, using a meter before changing it, as the problem could be anywhere upstream - a relay, shorted thermostat wires.
I don't know nearly as much about hydronics as forced air - but i assume there's some kind of zoning panel - if there is, could be an issue there, but again, testing will tell you, no need to change out parts before knowing what's wrong.

i think i got it .i took off the cover of the zone valve in question and was able to manually turn the gear and now it seems to be working.it may just have been stuck.anyway that seems like it was the problem. i`ll post more if that`s not the solution.thanks for the help
