I want to add a 2nd tier onto my existing countertop on the kitchen island. I currently have about a 12” overhang that I plan on cutting while the countertop is still in place. I’m going to build a wall flush to the back of the cabinets using 2x4’s. My question is what is the best way to secure the new countertop to the top of the new wall? It will be approximately 15" with about 2" overhang behind.

No one has any thoughts or ideas??

I've already thought of coming from underneath like a normal countertop and by using L shaped brackets underneath. Would this be enough to support the counter?

What kind of counter are you planning on using? Solid surface will have to be glued and supported with corbels. If you're planning on doing laminate you'll screw the particle board to the 2x4 and also support with corbels. Unless you're using a pre-fab counter then you'll still just glue it.
