The bedroom I am working on turns out has a plastic 2 gang box for the light switches they must of nailed it to a twisted stud because the opposite side of it from the stud is about 3/4" recessed from the drywall... the side on the stud is about 1/4" back.

what can I do minus replacing it to fix this? I assume box extender and longer screws? if so what type of screw do you normally use? (diameter and thread count?) because the current screws barely touch the box, not sure how they had the switches even screwed on without the face plate holding them in place...
