Hello, I recently had my home rewired by a licensed electrician. There was a permit and it passed inspection. Only problem I've had that in one bedroom there are 3 outlets. With only to smart phones plugged in and a fan the breaker keeps tripping.

Should it not be able to handle the load from the devices? Should I replace the 15 amp breaker with a new 15 amp breaker?

Needless to say the electrician was paid in full and isn't returning calls.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

Three such small current devices should NOT trip a circuit breaker designed to carry 15 A - yet trip when this value is slightly exceeded.

Carry out the following procedure:
Unplug ALL devices
Does the circuit breaker "trip".
If so - there is a wiring fault.

If not - plug in one device and switch on - if necessary (I would suggest the fan.)
Does the circuit breaker "trip".
If so - there is (probably) a fault in the fan.

If not - plug in another device and switch on - if necessary.
Does the circuit breaker "trip".
If so - there is (probably) a fault in that device.

Etc.

They are OEm. I won't have access to the room till tomorrow. I know I had a power saw and vacuum plugged in and it tripped. But it is the main breaker that appears to trip. I don't think he marked the breaker in the panel for the outlets in the room or any other of the breakers so I will have to do some investigating to see which breakers are associated with what outlets etc.

Something not making sense. First post it is a 15 amp tripping now the main breaker. If it is the 15 amp, is it a AFCI or GFCI?

Re: 15 AFCI amp breaker tripping on new panel

Ok so I just got access to the panel and I shouldn't have tried to rely on my memory. The panel is a 60 amp sub panel off the main 200 amp panel. The breaker that keeps tripping is a 15 amp AFCI. I just plugged a vacuum cleaner into one of the outlets in the room and it tripped. There are 3 outlets on this breaker and nothing else is plugged in. My apologies for the mix up.
thanks

How do you not have access to your breaker panel??

A vacuum can very easily nuisance trip an AFCI breaker. This is a known issue, sometimes with no resolution other than replacing the breaker.
