Canadian Code question. Can I use 12/2 Red and Black wire to wire an outlet for my refridgerator? If so, when bringing the wire to the 20 amp breaker can I use the red wire as netural, if I mark the wire white with shrink wrap? Hopefully one of you can answer for me. You guys are always so helpful and I truly apreciate your knowledge.

Best Regards,

Strange isn't it, you can remark a white conductor in a 2 wire cable as hot. But you can't remark a hot conductor white.

In BC you can not use 12/2 red and black for anything except baseboard heaters and are not allowed to use white tape to change the red to white. I am not sure of the code in Newfoundland just check with your electrical inspector.

Rniles/Tuchodi,
Guys thanks so much! I just called the hardware store and they have 12/2 in white and black. I picked it up by the foot and they are going to let me retrun the 30 feet for the correct version that I need.
