I am adding a 100 Amp sub panel in my garage. So far I have a # 2 AL Quadriplex ran between my house and the garage aerial. I have a roll of # 2 copper that I want to run the feeders on both side with. I need to figure out what the best way to connect these copper legs to my AL Quadriplex. I went to an electrical supply place and the only thing I found that didn't require a crimp tool were these allen wrench type lugs. They wanted $20.00 a piece for them? That would be $160.00 bucks just to lug my feeders to my aerial wire. There has to be a cheaper lug out there right????

Thanks for any info.

The Polaris type connector is a very good application for a DIY copper to aluminum connection. Well worth the $160 but if it is too much try to find them on eBay.

Take a look at a split bolt connector. Ebay had some for $2. one manufacturer is Blackburn and the Cat. No. is 1HPS. It's a combination split bolt for CU/AL wire. There is a seperator to keep the two alloys seperate. Put them on, tighten them up securely, tape them and you should be good to go.
