1/4" drywall ran parallel

1775 8
Installed over existing 1/2" drywall ceiling. Ran parallel to oppose existing seems. Attached w/ 1 5/8" screws. Scabbed sides of attic rafters to ensure sides are screwed.

Question: I did not glue it. Do you think I will have problems with sagging?

Thanks for your 2 cents!

The original 1/2" was hung perpindicular. I ran mine opposite. I figured if it settled it wouldn't crack the new seams. Then again the house is 35 yrs old so i shouldnt have worried about that. Think i should tear it all down and do w all new 1-2"? I really don't want too plus replace insulation. Just nervous because of it's direction but also no glue. Alot of screws should help I hope.

35 year old house... your trusses are most likely on 16" centers. But then you ran parallel to them...

I don't know, I wouldn't have used 1/4" on a ceiling. I would have just added another layer of half inch if it was me and I would have ran perpendicular to the trusses starting out with a 24" strip to ensure I don't land on the previous joint.

The house won't settle any further, what you are concerned with is that quarter inch losing it's fight with gravity. You'll probably be fine, but use 1/2" next time.
