1/2" supply - any reason for 3/4" manifold?

I have a 1/2" water supply from the city. I'm redoing some plumbing fixtures in my home. Is there any reason to go with a 3/4" manifold?

Usually main is 3/4 or 1 inch coming into house. Have seen them reduced to 1/2 inch right after water meter. Check and see. Post a pic when you can.

If thats the case, as mentioned above, you'll need all the help you can get.

Can't really tell from the pic, as its just out of frame, need close up of where main actually comes in. Looks like it was reduced to 1/2in somewhere.
