1/2" supply - any reason for 3/4" manifold?

I have a 1/2" water supply from the city. I'm redoing some plumbing fixtures in my home. Is there any reason to go with a 3/4" manifold?

Anyone else ever seen just a 1/2" main line supply?
That just sounds wrong to me.
There would not be enough volume at any pressure.
