I had someone helping set up my office in a home my parents left me. They plugged an extension cord into a socket that apparently had been spliced. When I flipped the switch, I saw a Brite flash and now I have no power in that room. I have changed out every plug and switch and done everything...

Hi All, First to understand what had happened. We just moved to a new apartment and I ordered dimmable led lamps and wifi dimmable switches that I was going to install in each of the rooms. 4. Automotive Repairs
Hi all. I've got a non-starting 2016 Ford Transit 350 (3.5L ecoboost engine). I'm *hoping* the problem can be solved with some electrical troubleshooting and not a tow to the dealership followed by a huge bill. What happened: It was very cold here for about a week (persistent -35 to -40 C air...

Evening everyone, I am a novice when it comes to household wiring and electricals but have a decent understanding of how everything works just not much experience. We been having issues with paint sagging in our new house and have read everything we can to try to fix the issue. We've prepared the walls by cleaning with TSP and light sanding. Hello all. Thank you already to anyone taking the time to read this. I have a Rheem RALB-030JAZ outdoor unit. Yesterday while weeding around it, I noticed that the smaller (I'm guessing low voltage) red, white and green wires going into the back of the unit had become frayed. In attempting...

A receptacle, recently installed, working for months, suddenly started occasionally cutting off power to the plugged-in devices, first for a little bit at a time, then permanently. Sounds simple, right? It's one of three receptacles in the box. Each is fed independently from a pigtail. The...

New on the DIY forum, but have seen lots of great useful info. I have just installed a circuit with 3 duplex receptacles (3rd one split) with switch to control the bottom of the 3rd switch. I am using a simple circuit tester that plugs into each receptacle - it is a clear tester with orange...

Hi all, My furnace has conked out, and I can't seem to find anything wrong with it. When I turn the fan from auto to on, it will blow, but then shut off again when I turn the heat from off to on. I have removed the upper panel, and the light is green, all switches are set to on, and...

  19. HVAC
I just can't understand why the evaporator coil would ice up if the system is low on refrigerant. I would think that since the evaporator is starved and the refrigerant is boiling off quickly there would be no reason for it to be cold enough to ice up. Can anyone offer clarification on this subject?
