    We have a terrible sewage smell that takes over our house. This only happens when water is drained through our main floor shower. (We live in a ranch style home built in 1958.) The smell however comes from the basement bathroom. I can't tell if the smell comes from the shower drain or...

    We have a strong sewage smell coming from the shower drain in the basement. The washing machine drains into this shower drain. The sewage smell only occurs at night. When we pour some bleach into the drain, the smell goes away, but it returns the next night.
