Hello forum, with the hot weather kicking in here, I see that my 2 year old AC/furnace has water in the pan. I am hoping this is just a clogged drain pipe, but not sure which of these PVC pipes is the drain, and/or if I should be looking at something else. Also....what is the black electronic...

I had the A/C of the condo I recently purchased inspected prior to making an offer on the condo. At that time the technition that inspected it told me the A/C worked, but that it was leaking freon and eventually will need a new capacitor and contactor. At closing I was given a home warranty...

Hi everybody, I was visiting my sister in South Carolina earlier this week and heard her Heat Pump buzzing while not in operation. The fixxer upper in me said, that doesn't seem right. A little googling and quick trial and error pointed me to the reversing valve coil. With the 220v pulled, the...

Hi, I have some problems with cooling at my home in the upstairs unit. The system is about 16 year old. I had a HVAC technician come and take a look at it and he identified a leak in the evaporator coil (They used some electronic sniffer to test this). The technician then charged up the system...

Good Evening. I'm a Brit so I know nothing about air conditioning so really appreciate all help. Last week we had a power cut in the middle of the night. Since then I noticed a few issues with the A/C. Firstly the upstairs unit wouldn't power on without me going in to the attic and turning the...

For A/C, I have a variable speed AHU with a conventional single stage outdoor A/C unit. For heating there is a hydronic heat coil in the AHU heated by a separate low mass boiler. The boiler also heats a radiant floor system throughout the house. The AHU heat/cool system operates well. It was...

Hello, Firstly, I know very little about electricity but I'm a quick learner. I'd like to make a small heating coil that can reach a temperature of about 350 F in a matter of seconds using a low voltage DC supply (preferably a 9v battery). I understand that the battery would run out of juice...

I just can't understand why the evaporator coil would ice up if the system is low on refrigerant. I would think that since the evaporator is starved and the refrigerant is boiling off quickly there would be no reason for it to be cold enough to ice up. Can anyone offer clarification on this subject?
