Bedroom to Dining Room Conversion
One of the bigger transformations in our house. This was a first floor bedroom that we converted into a dining room. Really opened up the first floor layout.

Removed a wall at the base of the stairs that allowed access from the living room.
New Window layout
Converted the closet into a serving area
New electric
New molding throughout

Basically gut-job and did the whole project myself. Duration -- 2 months (just weekends)
Move-In day -- check out the "indoor cedar shakes"
10,000 nails they used to put it up....
Move-In Day
Bad windows -- worse BR -- it would be much better as a DR...
Bless my wife -- she put up with a mess for a long time
Flooring -- had to replace the landing at the base of the stairs...
What great fun the "nail gun for hardwood flooring is" -- don't get me wrong...
During Construction -- looking at new opening
Nook -- ready for serving cabinet
Nook -- supported and opened up. Original door opening was 30" -- made it 44"
Nook -- before
Demo -- looking into the old bedroom
Demo -- prior to removing old drywall
note -- middle of pic is the original closet that I turned into the "serving nook"
Demo -- prior to removing old drywall
Demo -- getting rid of the old
Rebuild -- new windows in, but as you can see on the left-hand side, we have not broken thru yet to the stairs and essentially the LR.
From the outside...
Make sure to check out my residing project to see how the ugly outside turns out....
Rebuild -- new windows are in, and the old ones boarded up
Rebuild -- old windows out... measuring to make things "centered"
more drywalling
Drywalling -- Making the transition from DR to the living\tv room.
The "Serving Nook" wall...
The front wall -- new windows are much more attractive then the old setup....
Completed -- Transom window wall
Completed -- stairs wall
Good look at where w opened the wall. Left-side shows the original door into the bedroom
