Old PVC roof repair - Help

Hi Everyone,

I read some of the topics related to PVC armed roof, and i wanted you to share some thoughts with me.

I am in Portugal, and unfortunately, there are no experts for PVC..at least in my city. They just know how to sell it, hot weld it and then no repairs!
They claim that old pvc (MINE IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD) cannot be re-welded as it does not stick.

I have installed Sikaplan 15G (thickness 1.5 mm) is a polyester reinforced multi-layer,synthetic roof waterproofing sheet based on premium-quality polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

I need to cut a lot of PVC and re-patch the drain areas.
The PVC has shrink so much that water accumulates in those areas till it gets to the level of the draining exits.

Cant they just cut a large piece of that old pvc and weld another one bellow (or on top using MEK cleaning first)? So that the PVC doesn't look stretch any more, and water can flow with having to accumulate before moving to drain.
What do you think?

thank you
G.

Your plan should work. Not sure why the underside of the older PVC wouldn't take to a weld. It should be free of UV damage on the backside.

Good catch @craig11152

Re: Old PVC roof repair - Help

Thank you friends for the info so far.

I just need to find a company that can do the job.
The first one i talked a week ago, doesn't want to weld new PVC to the old one. They dont want to offer me warranty for the job.
They say it will not weld correctly...i know i know..they want to sell me a new roof

I am going to get a "visit" from another company tomorrow.
If they also denies, I ill try to explain that this can be welded from bellow.

I need a professional here!

Has i read somewhere, if i use MEK or Acetone, and clean the top of PVC, it should also work welding from the top. Do you agree?

I worked with shingles and SBS for a lot of years but know nothing about PVC. There are a couple flat roofing experts that occasionally show up here who could give you professional advice. A couple that come to mind I have not seen in a long while though.
