Metal Roofing for Experienced Beginners
we live in a remote area where there are no local experts on standing seam metal roofing. there are few books available on metal roofing alone: from start to finish and then upkeep. Can anyone point us in the right direction? We have basic construction experience and knowledge. we need info on the entire process from materials and techniques, especially roof opening treatment. Please send info, thanks!!
No, no, no
Post the info here
I need it also
Visit mbci.com...or simply do a google search on SSR....you don't give a location, so that is the best you will get for now. Doing the SSR is not a DIY project, but you should find tech data available.
I just installed metal roofing recently. I can offer my findings without a book (the books sure as heck will not have it)
Hot day? count on a few bubbly spots. Of course it is up to you and your tolerance. as long as the seams meet good of course.
tore off old shingles and reroofing with metal?
the rafters will change as you screw it off- different weight and if doubled seams are over rafter, it will pull the old sagger back up (they all do- even a 12 12 pitch over the years has lost some straightness) I found starting in the middle of the run is good for the whole seam, then screw it off however you want to.
that is about all I can think of. Other than these negatves I found it to be amazing cure for older buildings that have moved around a bit (I am in maine- it is as bad as pilgrims ran from in the 1600s) only the idiots stayed behind to fight god himself apparently. Anyway, have fun if you are normally a shingle person, it is very fast to lay it down after the cuts.
