Ideas on avoiding this gutter through the deck

Ideas on avoiding this gutter through the deck-gutter-through-deck.jpgIdeas on avoiding this gutter through the deck-img_2673.png

Hi. The first is an old picture. At this point, I'm planning to replace the decking with LockDry aluminum decking which will create a waterproof surface across the entire deck and make the under side a little dryer. However, I have a gutter running through the deck.

I plan to add pavers under the deck and potentially screen it in at some point.

I'd like suggestions on what to do with this gutter.

Off the top of my head, I can think of:

1. Let it dump out on the deck, which will cascade over the deck and mostly off the opposite side (once the LockDry is installed). Some of my gutters have accumulated shingle "pebbles" and I imaging that might end up staining the deck.

2. Bring the gutter forward at nearly a 90 degree angle and keep it toward the top of the underside deck ceiling. But, I'm not sure what to do with it when I get it to the edge of the deck.

3. Leave it as is and dig a trench to put in a pipe that routes the water underground and under the pavers and further out into the yard. Or, to the right where the other gutter is.

There may be much better ideas and that's why I'm here.

What do you all think?

Thanks,

Joe

Do you have a slope on that deck?
Leave the downspout where it is and down stairs install a pipe to take it out to day light beside the other one.

not as bad, could be made to work = same thing, but under the window, close to decking, to the other side

I think under the window, while still ugly would be the more attractive of those options.

I think either option above makes sense.
I would substitute "ugly" with "unconventional" and then mix me a few vodka gimlets till unconventional sticks.
