Tiling - How many extra cases??

I've had a 1500 sq ft. home completely tiled. Job appears to have been done well.

Tiles size 20 x 20. Six tiles per case.

Question: How many extra cases should I keep as replacement.

Should I also keep an extra bag of grout too?

Thanks

Hard to say how many tiles to keep. Murphy's law states if you have them you won't need them .... or you'll need more than you keep. I'd balance between what I could afford to keep and the room I have to store them.

I doubt grout would store well long term.

Re: Tiling - How many extra cases??

Most people use 10% extra for tile breakage, strange cuts, bad tiles, etc..

Since you already have tiled your house, how many boxes of tile do you have left?

How expensive is the tile and can you return it?

How common/rare is the tile?

If you have extra tile, it probably is from the same dye lot as the others. If you have to get more down the road, it won't be.

The question you have to ask yourself is, do you feel lucky? Well, do you @ken33xx ? Do you?

As for grout, unless it is an uncommon brand or color, don't bother. Even if you have the same grout from the same dye lot as the original, and add the same amount of water, and mix it the same amount of time, it will never be the same color. Close, but never the same. There is a difference in humidity levels, air pressure and the existing grout will have aged.

Good luck, Ktown

The tile cost is 33.95 per case.

I've got 13 cases left and was thinking to keep 10.
