Tile shower surround above fiberglass shower

I installed a large walk in fiberglass shower to accomodate the wifes senior Mom and time was essential then. We are quite comfortable with it and want install 2 in square tiles on the high surround and ceiling now that we are the ones using it. When I put it in I used green board and did not change the ceiling drywall. Can I put the sheet tiles directly on that original dry wall on the ceiling? The demensions of that area is 47 X 34 in.
The new shower replaced a standard tub - shower unit, (f-glass).
Your Recomendations will be most appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! I'll move you to "Tile" for some answers...

17,000 dryer fires a year, when did you last clean the inside of the dryer near motor or the exhaust ducting?

Yes, that is not a wet area--tile over the drywall--O.K.

As usual, I agree with Mike.

The only problem would be if there's water damage on any of the drywall above the shower.
