Removed wood laminate, adhesive left behind, Can I thinset now?

I used an air hammer to remove wood laminate from a 4' x 11' kitchen floor. Now there is a rubberized stretchy thin layer of adhesive left on the floor. Can I apply thinset over this to lay tile or do I need to remove it?

What would be the best way? A wire cup brush on a angle grinder? A diamond cup wheel on a angle grinder? Lacquer thinner? A wire brush on a pole?

What is the composition of the remaining floor structure? What's the size, spacing and unsupported span of the floor joists?

Is this a concrete floor or is it wood subfloor? If the latter, you will be using thinset and CBU anyway, so it depends on the composition of the glue. As always pictures help us see what you see. Oh, there's no "wood" in laminate flooring.

I'm sorry, concrete slab. It's my sister's new Condo.

There was a real wood layered planking there, 6 months old, that was 70% removed by ServPro due to a water leak at the connection to the refrigerator. I'm not sure of the proper name for this type of wood. I'm removing the rest of the wood but have to also deal with the remaining adhesive. You can peel the adhesive off with your fingers. If it was hard, I wouldn't have a problem with it. The peeling I have a problem with it. I'm not sure if the thinset would stick. In case I need to use my grinder to remove it, I ordered a circular vacuum attachment for the grinder to collect the dust going in to my vac.not

Will I need to remove the remaining adhesive?

Yes, remove the adhesive mechanically, as a solvent might interfere with adhesion of the tile afterward.
