When you say more "stable," are you simply referring to the tile moving around on the sliding "fence?" If so, sure, use tape. I'd say something like cheap masking tape or something like that (not duct tape) would work perfectly fine. I found that cutting the mosaic tile sheets was easiest by putting a piece of cardboard under the mosaic sheet (so it has a flat/stable base), lining it up where I wanted it to cut, and sliding it through the blade to make the cut. The blade has no problem cutting through cardboard. I never taped the tile down myself, but just held it in place against the cardboard. The weight of the sheet and the wet cardboard kept things from moving around much when I did it.

That was what I meant. Cardboard sounds like a good idea and may use a painters tape on top. Tiles should be here this week so Thanks to all.
