ceramic tile

i have a hole in the concrete slab for a pump and i want to tile the floor,being that i need to be able to access the pump i thought of covering the hole with an aluminum diamond plate and then tile it
my only concern is if it can be done with what to i do it Glue, Thinset, or Mud

I'd tile up to and around the sump hole, and use something else for the lid.

I don't think you'll get Thinset to bond to aluminum. In addition, any flex will ruin your grout and probably break tiles.
