What should be under tub?

Hello,

Gutting the bathroom, I discovered that the tub sits on just the plywood subfloor and there has definitely been rodents under there. The floor looks to be in good shape and the tub has no leaking issues. Should I put anything under or around the tub? I've heard people suggesting spray foam on the tub?

No spray foam----cast iron and steel tubs simply sit on the floor with steel shims if needed.

Some fiberglass tubs are set into a bed of masons mortar to prevent flexing.

And mice love to tunnel through spray foam. It makes perfect housing for them.

It is nice and warm---kind of like a well built mouse apartment---

Thanks for the replies. So should the floor under the tub have anything special on it or just leave bare subfloor?

Plain subfloor is the usual way.
