Probably not the best idea if there is also a shower. Even if there is no shower I would think the steam would have an effect on the adhesive over time. The cracks between the tiles would also be a harbor for mold and mildew.

I agree with last post, you are asking for water damage, a better solution would be a simulated tile board - make sure it is the kind that is solid all the way thru and not mdf on back. These can be found in 4x8 sheets at home improvement stores. They make a vinyl tub surround corner to cover the corners and area between the tub and wall, as well.

I've read that the vinyl floor tile adhesive depends on gravity and will fall off a wall over time.

you may be better with wet wall panelling, no problems with steam etc then
