You could take a little rubber foot, from the hardware store, place it over the star washer, and it will grip the wood great when tightening the bolt.

If you don't want to drill the wood, or don't have room for the drill to get up there.

Re: Top Mount Sink - Clip Issue - Seeking Advice

Thanks for the help guys. - I managed to get those suckers on there, as per Neal's genius. - This might be a bonehead question, but does anybody have a tip or tool to get a nice slim, perfect bead of sticky caulk on a lip? I always have trouble with it. I'm kind of like.. the worst caulk guy really. Is there a trick or tool out there that anybody uses particularly?

Tape what you don't want to caulk

They smaller the hole in caulk tube tip, the smaller the bead. The tape trick works well but be sure to remove immediately.

Tape, then a WET FINGER, to wipe off the excess, and smooth out the wanted seal.

apply the bead before installing the sink, install, squeeze out some, then WET finger to smooth.

Wipe your finger on rag, wet again, remove a section.
