Tile layout question standard tub/shower

Hi,

In the process of laying out my tile. 12x12. Standard bathtub shower with niche. I tend to over think!

I'm somewhat uncertain how the tile should look on the wall with the spout and spigot.

Do you take into consideration where the tile lands with the spout?

Should I center the tile on the spout and cut the tiles?

If I do that I will have a tiles not the same size. There would be three widths going all the way up.

I was going to mirror the layout on the opposite wall.

Or use the same method as the back wall finding the centerline of the wall and distribute evenly. No skinnies, etc.

My gut reaction is to find center of the wall and plan the layout.

Couple of photos.

Thanks.

Gb,
Those fixtures should have been laid out so they were centered on the tub before sheeting the walls, too late now. If it were mine, I would probably center it on the middle run of tile, like your second pic shows. I think that would be less noticeable then the tiles being different widths going up. Others here may have a better idea.

I'm going to sketch something up tomorrow. I have a 3" trim piece in the equation.

My thought is to go trim piece, full tile, full tile, cut tile at back of wall.

Gb, you might want to draw some lines on the wall to represent your tile layout just to see what it's going to look like.

I started to lay everything out and jumped back into painting, but for that quick moment I spent drawing on graph paper I think I got it figured it out and the faucet spout will be pretty darn close to center on the tile.
