Tile floor height

Updating bathroom. plywood subfloor is exposed now and I had to flatten it out in some spots.

The subfloor sits below the toilet closet flange (which is in good shape) about 1". The height of the subfloor at the doorway is about 1/2" high to the other room.

I was originally going with 1/4" cbu but that along with tile and mortar doesn't raise the finished floor high enough to flange but would work fine at the doorways.

If I go with the 1/2" cbu (.42") that works for the flange but doesn't for the doorway, unless I use a thick marble threshold which I don't want to do, that's ugly.

Any suggestions?
