subway tile trim question

Am doing a kitchen backsplash using 3X6 white subway tile. Got to the window above the sink and realize on the one side of the window I will need a 1/4" piece of trim but the smallest I can find at the store is 1/2". Can I sand or shave the tile to 1/4"? If so, how? Thanks for any ideas you can give me.

Re: subway tile trim question

When you say trim do you mean wood trim or what? Windows have 4 sides... what side are you talking about? Post a picture if you can.

Re: subway tile trim question

Yes, the window has wood moulding (trim) around it like most windows have. I am adding a backsplash and didn't realize in the layout that on one side of the window, I only have enough space for a 1/4" wide piece of ceramic tile after I add spacers. So, I can either fill the space in with a very large amount of grout or try to add a 1/4" piece of ceramic tile-- I don't know if I can cut it that small without it breaking. I guess that is my question. Is it possible to cut a subway tile (ceramic) to such a small sliver? If it can be done, how do I cut it?

Re: subway tile trim question

Very carefully, wet tile saw.

Would it be possible to just retrim the whole window with something that is 1/4" wider?
