I'm looking for a strong shower base to fit into a corner with a rounded front. I have found the neo-round bases by Maax, but i dont have a good feel for their strength. If I read correcty i can put the base onto a bed of mortar to provide support so it will not flex, but i havent done this before and am uncertain as to technique.

Or... I could go with a solid base like swanstone, or marble or something. The problem there is I cant seem to find the shape i want.

Any suggestions?

Setting a shower pan in a bed of mortar is a common practice and I encourage you to do so. Without it the pan will flex and can crack. Three or four cantalope sized balls of mortar should do the trick. Too much mortar and the pan will not set down level where you want it, take some out and try it again. It's trail and error.
