Stabilizing a half-wall for shower valve

The bathroom remodel continues, currently waiting on tiling professionals to find time to visit...

Currently the shower is measuring about 40" x 70". The entry is on the long side; the intention is to have a glass door, and a glass divider on a half-wall (shower trim on either short wall). It's that half wall that's occupying my thoughts at the moment...

It occurs to me that the half-wall might be a nice place for the shower valve, since I can reach it and not be in the initial spray of water from the shower. The wall is attached to the floor and the wall with nails. The studs in the wall are attached with screws and nails.

However, the half-wall is still slightly flexible, since it's only attached on two sides, and that concerns me in the long run. I'm thinking the wall will stiffen further once the hardibacker is on the open side, but will that be enough? Is there a better construction method for the wall I should use?

Thanks for your thoughts!

The wall should be screwed together.
There should be a double 2x4 at the opening.
The bottom plate should be bolted to the floor.
Stiffen the front and back with 1/2" ply, glued and screwed to the 1/2 wall.
