Shower Side Wall Standard Length

Hello all

I am in the process of framing around my shower pan and am curious if there is a standard distance the side walls should extend past the shower pan. Just to clarify, I have a 34 x 48 shower pan. When I look at the side walls around most showers, they extend past 34 inches… they normally have some tile work that is on the outside of the sliding door that allows you to enter the shower. For the side walls, is there a standard length past the shower pan walls normally extend? I am thinking maybe 3 to 5 inches.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

There is no "standard" I try to use 6" so it's easy to finish the walls.

What Joe said.

I shoot for some size that will fit the cap (bullnose) tiles that will be used--Typically 3 inches--or more if the bathroom can stand the loss of more room.
