Shower shelf retrofit

I need to put a shelf in a shower. The area is irregular - one corner is 90 deg and the opposite corner is 120 deg. I don't want to cut the tile, but can cut the grout. I have some of the existing tile, and would like to make a shelf and cover it with the existing tile. The stuff I see online like Innovis that can be tiled are really for corner shelves, and this needs to go from one wall to the next, so supported on three sides (with the two ends not parallel due to the 120 deg corner).

Any suggestions? First thought was a goof proof or innovis shelf that can be tiled, but they won't fit this space.

I have used hardi backer ( 1/4" version ) glued up together to get the desired thickness ( usually 3/4" ) cut into a triangle and then thinset and tile locked them into position, ( on a new install, but if you are carefull and have spare tile, you can remove enough tile to lock in a new corner triangle piece ) before tiling over the corner shelf. I use normal bondo to glue hardibacker to hardibacker. I also run the glued assembly through my wet saw to make sure all side are even to one another. I also apply a slight tilt to the front to ensure no standing water is left on the shelf.

Thanks.

I was thinking of something similar. I was wondering if there is a way to sandwich a piece of metal between the boards that I could just put in the grout line and leave the tiles intact. Since I can support it on three sides that may be all I need.

Thoughts on that?
