Shower Enclosure

Hi all. My guest bathroom has a shower enclosure and tub that is made of some sort of plastic. I'm unsure how to tell if it's acrylic or fiberglass. I want to paint it. What type of "kit" would you all recommend? Thanks.

Re: Shower Enclosure

I am not sure that is such a DIY friendly task. It is usually done by professionals who control the atmosphere to prevent fumes from entering the rest of the house and to maintain a smooth finish.

Re: Shower Enclosure

Yes, professional reglazing is on a whole other level compared to DIY resurfacing kits. First off is prep is key. ALL and I mean ALL soap scum and other contaminants need to be removed or you will not achieve adhesion. The pros will then acid etch the surface, prime and then spray on a finish coat. Unfortunately, the DIY home kits have less than stellar reviews. I have seen several where the paint literally peels off do to insufficient prep.

Reglazing by a pro would run somewhere around $400 depending on your bath configuration.
