To replace the bathtub or not?

Ok, so I have a bathroom that I'm going to gut and redo eventually, but one thing I'm unsure about is the bathtub. It's a steel American Standard tub and seems to be in fine condition which was installed by the builders in '85 (so it's going on 30yrs old). It's a pretty typical shower/tub configuration.

My thought process is that I probably should replace it, since I will be redoing the walls and flooring around the tub (I'm pretty sure the walls are drywall with tile overtop via the builder) with durock and tiles. But on the other hand, there's no point making a whole lot of work for myself and extra expense if the old tub is perfectly fine. Cosmetically it looks fine to me (has some light scratches and doesn't look new but it's not the master bath).

For me the big concern is how long do they last and perhaps more importantly should I at least replace the washers/orings for the drain? Last thing I want is to redo an entire bathroom and have a water leak due to the seal on the drain going bad. Can the drains be often times fixed from above or below without damaging anything besides some drywall underneath?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Can't speak to the tub. You could get it refinished so it's nice and shiny to match your update.

The drain can be repaired very easily from below...just a hole in the drywall.
