Removing Sakrete Sand Mix Shower Pan

This weekend I did my first shower pan attempt in a 3x5 shower. I used the Goof Proof Quick Pitch system to do this. However; after the Sand Mix dried one side had a valley that puddled water. From what I'm reading it is most likely best to just redo the shower pan and chalk it up to a learning experience. I don't mind doing this bud I really don't want to redo the liner membrane. Is there a relatively easy way to break up the sand mix and remove it without ruining the liner?

It takes weeks / months for concrete to fully cure, so your mix is still "green", and should break up easily with a hammer, just be gentle as one can be with a hammer.

Hammer is the best way to go and just check the liner. They are pretty durable.

If it's only "off" in one spot and is otherwise in good shape, why not keep it a fill the valley? I'd have to see it, but this might work for you. Otherwise a hammer, and it's gone in a few minutes.

Goof Proof eh? Remember to over fill, then go back a scrape/screed away the excess to make it perfectly flat as you want it.

Re: Removing Sakrete Sand Mix Shower Pan

Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll break it out with a hammer and this time I'm not using the goof proof system. I'm going to make a level line around the cement board and use the 2x4 method to tamp it level around the edges first then go from there. The goof proof system only comes with 6 sticks when I feel it should definitely have at least 8. Anyway, hammer it is

What tools other than a few 2x4's and a level are you using?
