Recommendations for Wedi products?

I've got most of the shower framed out, and have started talking to contractors to get quotes for tiling the shower (my wife has asked me to bring in professionals on the basis of my first try on the floor about three years ago ).

During the initial discussion, they mentioned they really liked to use Wedi products. It's a plastic-sort of product, and I've never heard of them. As such, I thought I'd ask the forum's thoughts on it. Anybody use this stuff, and is it better/worse than hardibacker or other cement boards?

Thanks!

WEDI is a poly foam board nestled between two layers of Fiberglass reinforced cement-like coating. WEDI is totally waterproof if seamed correctly, cement board is not waterproof. WEDI is super expensive and the cost isn't really necessary but that's up to you. WEDI cost probably four times more than regular cement board, but it also installs very quickly and easily. If you pay for the WEDI product you should get a size-able discount for the installation-labor of the WEDI board.

I would suggest you look at Denshield.

Same thing...too damned expensive for little gain. When you can do the same thing with forty dollars worth of liquid waterproofing.

I use it to build shower benches and niches and it is great for that.
