Purchasing a new toilet - Canada

Hey all,

I live in a condo in Canada and am looking at replacing my toilet, I wanted some advice on what to buy. My budget is around $250 and I am looking for something that won't get clogged and is built to a quality finish. I picked up the basic Cadet 3 ($159) yesterday from Home Depot but found it to be finished poorly (for example the coating inside the bowl did not go all the way to the top and the exit hole in the bowl was jagged rather than smooth).

I have only been looking at American Standard toilets thinking this is a well known brand and future parts will be easy to find.

I did look at this one but I hear its a pain to assemble but once done is it any good? I like the concealed finish.

Any advice appreciated.

Kohler and/or Toto toilets.

Hard to beat the American Standard Champion 4.

I've used one for a year now; zero problems.

The Champion 4 from Lowe's at $209 US is excellent. I too bought one last year for $199 less 5% cuz of the Lowes credit card. Gonna be a little more in Canada.

Almost didn't buy the American Standard because we have one from '02, and it has to be the worst flushing toilet since the water savers were mandated. Their Champion 4 is very good though. Also have an older Toto which was considered one of the best in '02, but nothing like the current models.

So, I recommend the Champion 4, just make sure whatever you decide, it's an elongated bowl, not round bowl.

Consumer Reports did a review of toilets in the March issue this year.
I'd look at that to get a good idea how they were rated.

Just an update:

I purchased the a Water Ridge One piece toilet from Costco, it has all the specs all the other top ones do. Totally random but I didn't want to fork out too much money = $179. I haven't installed it yet, but will let you know how it goes. Worse case scenario, I will return if I have problems, as I hear Costco has a good returns policy. I wonder if they will accept it after a few poos have run their course!
