Preferred location for bathroom van exhaust vent?

Is there a preferred location, aesthetically speaking, for where to place the vent on the side of the house? I'm adding a vent fan to a bathroom, where there wasn't one before, so I will be creating the exhaust vent location as well. I've attached a picture of the side of the house for reference.

The two bathrooms in the picture are identical in size and are adjacent to each other, one being in the master bedroom. The they will both eventually have the same exhaust vent installed, so I guess symmetry would be important?

It sort of feels like a silly question, but I don't want to put it somewhere less-than ideal and not realize it. Like, if I put it centered over each window, will I just be sucking humid air back in through the window?

I would go up thru the roof, side by side about 2 ft apart on the back of the house.

Thanks. Is the roof venting better, or more efficient?

They are first choice, because as you have noted the window, the attic vent above and the proper flashing at the wall has to be considered.

Done properly in a shingled roof is quick and no leaks. But I don't like getting on a roof and you do have a steep one or it looks steep and that is also a consideration.
