Over the Range Microwave too small

I was curious how often this comes up, but my new cabinets make it too small to install an over the range microwave that is 30"

The space I have after cabinet installation is 29 3/8s - In this case I have a half free floating wall side with corner bead. Should I cut into that or into the cabinet?

I wouldn't cut the cabinet unless the overhang bothers you. The 1/2" isn't going to make a difference when it comes to support.

I’d rip the 1/4” flanges off the left side of the cabinet to the right of it and remove the corner bead. Or you could remove both 1/4” flanges from the cabinet next to the mic..

An OTR mic. is just under 29-7/8” wide

Cut into the drywall. I assume the faceframe of the cabinet above is 30". If you cut into the cabinet, it's really going to look like a hack job, because then the micro won't line up with the cabinet above. And what about the range? Are you just holding that off of the wall so it misses that corner?

I thought about it and yes I am going to cut into the drywall - a cabinet cut would look awful.

Range is off the wall now but will be pushed back to the wall after the install is done
