Minimum space for shower valve

The plan for my renovated shower is to mount the valve and shower head on on exterior wall. I live in the north so I have to build out the wall by a few inches and lose some valuable shower sqft.

What is the minimum depth I need for the valve?

Re: Minimum space for shower valve

How far North?

Plumbing on an Exterior wall is an invitation for troubles if you are in a cold zone.

Every new shower valve comes with a installation instructions that tell you how far behind the wall to install it.

Re: Minimum space for shower valve

I'll be running the pipes on the interior side of the insulation. I'll pick a few shower valves and see what they say.

Thanks to all.
