Metal trim for tiled inside corners

I have a question. In the past, I have always tiled to the corners and used a sanded caulk instead of grout to prevent cracking. However, I was wondering if it would be advisable to use a metal corner instead and just tile up to that, therefore eliminating the chance that I will have to recaulk after a few years.

Any advantages/disadvantages to this? Shower will use kerdi membrane and tile is 4x16 ceramic subway.

I would look for ceramic before metal. The only problem is how it gets attached.

Re: Metal trim for tiled inside corners

Outside corner or inside ? If you are proposing putting a 90 degree metal piece in the corner, then butting your tile to each "leg" of the metal, you have just added another vertical joint. The grouted or caulked inside corner = just one joint to deal with.

To me, nothing works better than sanded, color matching caulk used on inside corners. When just using grout, it seems the grout will eventually crack. JMO
