How would you finish around my shower?

the space between the shower and where the walls cuts back to the doorway is 1 1/2 " the depth of the shower receding into the wall is 1/4". Any ideas of how you "pros" would finish it off?

Edit: i did not install the shower, it was the last owners who did.

1. Remove the door casing.
2. Cut everything else (except the shower) that protrudes from the wall down to the studs.
3. Use some new material as an oversized door casing (to cover all the ugly).

Tape and mud. Or cut back your drywall and install new so that it covers the nailing flange.

Thanks for the replies and ideas. I was figuring i would have to drywall and mud it because it goes all the way around the shower. I just hate doing drywall.

Chaulk it Thats what my wife told me to do.
